Green Pomelo, a family business run by Su is very active in Hackney: Su is currently a volunteer representative for Real Nappies for London, Hackney Real Nappy Network, and is also a spoke person for Hackney Real Nappy Network on Yeah! Hackney. Busy busy life!
If you are a fan, you will know that Green Pomelo sell their own one-size pocket nappies in lots of funky colours.
They come with either poppers or velcro but what makes a real difference is the perfect fit: the poppers version has a double row of snaps for perfect adjustability and there are 3 sizes setting depending on the weight of baby. According to reviews, the Green Pomelo nappy fits perfectly both chunky and slimmer thighs/waist: that means a comfortable baby and no leaks.
Each nappy comes with two super absorbent microfibre insert but you can also get Green Pomelo Bamboo Boosters which contain 3 layers of bamboo fibre.
If you are a bit new to the cloth nappy world and think I am talking some sort of alien language, just check our cloth nappy guide and FAQ page where all the lingo has been explained.
But the Green Pomelo website is like a Ali Baba's cave: you can find a recipe blog, a children's upcycling clothes brand made by a mum from Hackney and a fantastic daily eco-tip blog.
Actually everyone is welcomed to participate and send in their favourite eco-tip: there are some great surprises like how to compost absolutely everything with a bokashi bin or why consider EC'ing. You could even win a great Green Pomelo Giveaway.
Lastly, I would like to share the "Green Pomelo Real Nappies Trial Scheme" which allows you to test-drive their nappies to see if you like them before deciding to invest in one of their super-saver pack. You can try nappies for just £1 and even use the NapNap Voucher you've been given.
So you've been warned: if you decide to visit the Green Pomelo website, allow more than just a few minutes. Having said that, you can get lots of news, discount and competitions on their Facebook page.
